Effective Solution for Water Intake Structures

Dual Rake Mechanical Screens are designed for use in water intake structures and open channels, providing reliable removal of large solids regardless of their size.

Unlike conventional mechanical screens, the rake assembly moves from behind the screen bars to the front as the chain rotates. This unique operating principle prevents large debris from becoming trapped between the rake and the screen bars. As a result, solids are conveyed smoothly to the discharge chute at the top of the screen and discharged into a collection container, regardless of their size.

Installed at an inclination of 60°, Dual Rake Mechanical Screens can be manufactured with bar spacing of 40 mm or greater to meet specific project requirements. All submerged and above-water components are manufactured from stainless steel in the required material grade, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and long service life.

What does "Dual Rake" mean, and how does it differ from a conventional screen?

In this design, the rake assembly travels behind the screen bars and moves to the front at the bottom of the screen, where it collects and conveys the debris. This operating principle virtually eliminates the risk of large debris becoming trapped between the rake and the screen bars, which can occur in conventional mechanical screens. As a result, oversized and irregularly shaped solids are conveyed more smoothly and reliably to the discharge point.

The bar spacing starts at 40 mm and can be increased to meet specific application requirements. The screen is typically installed at an inclination of approximately 60°, which helps maintain efficient hydraulic flow while enabling the rake assembly to convey debris upward effectively.

Unlike conventional bar screens, Dual Rake Mechanical Screens do not use a conventional scraper blade for screenings discharge. Instead, the specially designed rake assembly allows the collected screenings to be discharged by gravity as the rake reaches the discharge point.
