Helical Screens are compact and efficient preliminary treatment units designed to remove solid materials from wastewater in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and other infrastructure applications.
The submerged section of the unit is equipped with a perforated screen that retains solids while allowing the wastewater to pass through. The captured screenings are conveyed upward by the integrated screw. During conveying, the screenings are washed with service water before entering the compaction zone. In this section, the decreasing screw diameter and pitch compact the material, reducing its volume. The washed and compacted screenings are then discharged through the outlet chute, while the separated wastewater is returned to the treatment process.
Manufactured to suit the dimensions of the installation channel, the screen, screw, and housing are all fabricated entirely from stainless steel.
By combining screening, conveying, washing, and compaction functions in a single unit, Helical Screens offer significant advantages in terms of initial investment cost, operational simplicity, and installation space requirements.
