Reliable Grit Separation with Low Maintenance
Grit Classifiers are used to separate grit and other inorganic solids from wastewater in wastewater treatment plants, as well as in the chemical, food processing, refinery, and similar industries.
Wastewater enters the unit through the inlet at the top of the tank. The grit carried by the incoming flow settles to the bottom under controlled hydraulic conditions, where it accumulates in the collection hopper. The settled grit is then conveyed by a screw conveyor to the discharge chute for removal from the system, while the clarified water flows over the overflow weir and is returned to the treatment process.
The system consists of a main frame, a screw conveyor, and a gear motor drive assembly. Each unit is manufactured to suit the required treatment capacity. All steel components are manufactured from stainless steel, while the screw support linings are made from wear-resistant polyethylene to ensure reliable operation and extended service life.
The specially designed inlet, overflow weir, and screw conveyor provide high separation efficiency and contribute to the overall performance of the system.

Does the screw conveyor cause wear to the Classifier body?
To prevent direct contact between the screw conveyor and the classifier body, wear-resistant polyethylene linings are used to support the screw. As these linings are subject to wear during operation, they should be replaced periodically according to the operating conditions.
How are the linings replaced in a Grit Classifier?
The polyethylene lining elements installed between the screw conveyor and the classifier body can be easily replaced by removing them from their mounting points. This allows maintenance to be carried out quickly and minimizes equipment downtime.
