High-Efficiency Sludge Collection

Rotating Bridge Scrapers are designed to remove settled sludge and floating scum from circular sedimentation tanks in water and wastewater treatment plants.

The system consists of a center-supported bridge with bottom sludge scraper arms and a surface scum scraper. Driven by a motor and gearbox through wheel assemblies, the bridge rotates continuously, conveying settled sludge toward the central sludge hopper. Floating scum is collected by the surface scraper and discharged into the scum box. Clarified water is discharged over adjustable V-notch weirs around the tank perimeter, while scum baffles prevent floating materials from entering the effluent.

Rotating Bridge Scrapers can be manufactured as full-bridge, half-bridge, or tail-bridge configurations for tanks with diameters of up to 50 meters, depending on process requirements. The bridge structure, manufactured from specially formed steel sections, is available in either stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized steel, while all components in contact with water are manufactured entirely from stainless steel.

In addition to the conventional bottom scraper design, the system can also be supplied with a suction sludge collection system. The surface scum removal system is available with either paddle-type or screw-type collectors to suit different operating conditions.

Are Rotating Bridge Scrapers only available in half-bridge configurations?

Rotating Bridge Scrapers can be manufactured in half-bridge, full-bridge, or tail-bridge configurations, depending on the calculated sludge load of the final sedimentation tank. Full-bridge designs are generally preferred for larger-diameter tanks to provide greater structural stability and operational performance.

In Rotating Bridge Scrapers, a plate-type surface scum scraper is supplied as standard. Suspended from the bridge, it collects floating scum and directs it to the scum box for removal from the tank. Where faster or more efficient surface cleaning is required, the system can be equipped with either a paddle-type or a screw-type surface scum collector.
