Micro Disc Filter
Continuous Microfiltration with Low Energy Consumption
Micro Disc Filters are used at the outlet of wastewater and drinking water treatment plants to improve effluent quality and enhance the efficiency of UV disinfection.
Equipped with fine filter media, the system removes suspended and floating solid particles larger than 10 microns from the water. Integrated hydrostatic level sensors continuously monitor the water level across the filter. When clogging begins to occur, the automatic backwash system is activated to clean the filter media without interrupting the filtration process.
The tank is manufactured entirely from stainless steel, while the disc assembly is made of high-strength ABS. The filter media is available in either polyester mesh or stainless steel mesh, depending on the application.
Unlike pressurized sand filters, Micro Disc Filters operate without the need for filtration pressure, resulting in very low energy consumption. Compared with conventional gravity sand filters, they require a significantly smaller installation footprint, reducing initial investment costs. In addition, their continuous filtration capability allows the system to maintain filtration even during the backwash cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is filtration interrupted during backwashing?
No. Thanks to the unique design of Micro Disc Filters, the filtration process continues uninterrupted during the backwash cycle. Continuous filtration provides a significant operational advantage by maintaining treatment performance without interrupting system operation.
Does the filter media have a service life?
Under normal operating conditions and in the absence of physical damage, the polyester filter mesh provides reliable long-term performance. Discoloration of the filter media over time is considered normal and depends on the chemical characteristics of the water being treated.
Can Micro Disc Filters only be used in wastewater treatment plants?
Micro Disc Filters can be used in any treatment plant where suspended solids removal is required, including municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, drinking water, and water reuse applications.
